I have a challenge for you.
Every year since 2015 I’ve taken a photo of myself every day during the month of March. It started as a personal project, as a way for me to make sure that I got in front of the camera more, to make sure I exist in photos for my children.
And now I want to extend the challenge to other parents.
I want to get as many people as possible to get in the frame more, to show they were there, to be present in the photos they’re taking of the children’s childhoods.
So I’ve put together a list of prompts, one for each day of March, to help give us all ideas for different photos we can take that include us in some way. The prompts can be interpreted however you like, the photos just need to include you in some way.
The photos might be of you on your own, you with your children, you with your partner. Some days they might just feature part of you, like your feet, your hands, or your eyes. And other times they might show a part of your personality, through the things you love, or the book you’re reading.

If you’d like to join in (and I really hope you do want to!), all you have to do is take a photo inspired by one of the prompts and share it on Instagram with #ShowYouWereThere. You can also tag me – @this.glorious.life – to make double sure that I see it.
There’s no pressure at all to complete the month.
If you only want to share one photo over the 31 days that would still be amazing. If you hardly ever get in photos with and for your children, then anything is a step in the right direction.
I do know how hard it is to get started though. It’s why I do the challenge myself every year, because I know otherwise I would quietly slip back behind the camera again, and I’m determined that that won’t happen.
I want my children to look back at photos when they’re older and see me in them. I want them to have that proof that I was there.
I’ve written quite a few posts on this topic in the past and if you would love to join in with this challenge but have a few reservations then some of these older posts might help:

I’ll be sharing the prompts each day over on my Instagram feed, and will have a few tips and ideas on my stories to provide some extra inspiration as well as keep myself accountable!
I would really love to see people joining me in this, whether it’s just one photo, all 31, or anywhere in between.
So please do get in the frame, tag your photos #ShowYouWereThere and tag me if you want – @this.glorious.life.

I have not heard this challenge #kcacols@_karenden is
It’s something I’ve come up with myself, to try and encourage parents to get in front of the camera more! x
I think these challenges are terrific to participate in to get you to post regularly, and to have the hashtag in common with other instagrammers, hopefully to build a community. I liked #the100dayproject and #februaryartclub and #marchmeetthemaker #KCACOLS
This is an awesome idea. I don’t post enough to keep up with all of the prompts but at some point I’ll be popping up in that hashtag #kcacols
This is a great challenge! I should really join in as I don’t get in photos very often at all, especially not recently. I’m never organised enough to keep up with challenges though! #KCACOLS
I’ll be the First to admit that I rarely feature on my feed, so a challenge like this would be brilliant. Thank you for joining us for #kcacols and e hope to see you next time.
I love this idea I will use the hashtag xx #KCACOLS
Great idea! I don’t often feature in our photos but every so often I push myself to be in front of the camera #KCAKOLS
Wow that’s quite a challenge! What a great idea! #KCACOLS
