We had a bit of a houseful one day last week.
My brother came over with his two daughters, and my sister came with her three girls and her niece. So along with Rhys and Nerys we had eight children to contend with, ranging in age from four to ten.
So despite it being a particularly overcast day we packed up some bags and walked down to the beach for an hour or two.
We did the same thing last summer when my brother and his girls were on holiday in Wales, but we got the timing wrong with the tide. It was pretty much as far out as it could be, which meant that the children didn’t get to even paddle.
This year though I checked the times and we made it down while the tide was still fairly in. And despite the fact that it was a grey, windy, chilly day all eight children splashed out into the sea. They lasted a fair while too, before running out in search of dry towels and warm hugs.
Along with these photos I got some really lovely ones of all the cousins together.
It only really happens once or twice a year that we all manage to be in the same place at the same time, so we always try to make the most of it and get some good photos. The children all get on really well together which is so lovely to see, and I hope that they manage to stay good friends as they get older.
This is just my side of the family too, they have more cousins on Steve’s side and they’re always really excited to spend time with them too. They seem to have that special kind of friendship with all of their cousins really, the kind where you just sort of slot back together even when you’ve not seen each other for ages.
Do your children have lots of cousins? Do they get to spend much time together?
