It might not feel like it at the moment, with snow forecast and a definite chill in the air, but spring will be on its way soon.
And with the change in seasons lots of us will also be wanting to change things up at home. It’s the time of year where we all want to blow away the cobwebs, get stuck into the spring cleaning, and get everything ready for warmer days.
You don’t have to do anything too drastic or time-consuming though. You can still make a big impact and really freshen up your home for spring with just a few small changes.
One of the best things about spring arriving is that it brings with it longer days, which are much needed after the dark mornings and evenings of winter.
So you’ll want to make the most of it and bring as much light into your home as possible.
The best place to start is to give all your windows a really good clean, inside and out, as you get stuck into the spring cleaning. Once you’ve done that you can look at other ways to bring more light into your home by doing things like hanging more mirrors to reflect light back into darker corners.
You can also freshen things up by changing your light fittings. If you’re not sure what type of lighting to go for then spend some time browsing specialist websites like Light Supplier, who have things like a wide range of large glass globe pendant lights at low prices to get you inspired.
Change your soft furnishings
Another great way to really change things up and create a new look in your home for spring is to get in some new soft furnishings.
In the living room you could freshen things up with new cushions and more light-weight throws for the sofa. If you want to change the colour of the sofa itself but don’t want to buy a brand new one, then you could get a sofa cover that will stretch over your existing sofa to completely change the look of it.
You can give your bedroom a spring refresh as well, by getting new bedding. You might want to go for pretty pastels and florals, or something bright and bold. And you might also want to replace your heavy winter duvet with a lighter one for when the nights start to get warmer.
Bring the outside in
As the seasons start to change take the opportunity to get some lovely fresh spring air into your home by flinging the windows open as often as you can.
Then look around your home and find spots that you can brighten up with some flowers or houseplants.
Get some pretty vases, fill them with fresh flowers and display them on your mantlepiece, in the middle of the dining room table or on the chest of drawers in the bedroom. Then look at getting some hanging houseplants for the living room, some pots of herbs to grow on your kitchen windowsill, or some high-humidity-loving plants for your bathroom.
