#ShowYouWereThere round up

‘Show you were there’ round up

Sunday morning has rolled around again, and that can only mean one thing.

Time for another round up from my little Instagram community #ShowYouWereThere.

My first pick is from Alex at That Butterfly Effect.  I think the new short hair really suits Alex, and she looks amazing!  I used to have quite short hair when I was younger, but I’m not sure I’m brave enough to go for it again now.  I always think it looks great on other people though!

Next up is this gorgeous photo from Lucy at Mrs H’s favourite things.

I always love seeing Lucy’s photos and reading her honest and open words, and this post was no exception.  For me beauty is so much more than the way someone looks and the features they happen to have been born with.

So much of it comes down to the person inside shining through.  And in every way possible I think Lucy really is beautiful.

My third choice is this lovely photo with an important message from Rhi at Mummy of Four.

I’m so happy to see Rhi using #ShowYouWereThere and sharing her message about how important it is that we lead by example for our children and love and celebrate who we are.

My last pick for this week is from Lyndsay at Fizzy Peaches.

I just think this is such a sweet moment that Lyndsay has captured, and I always love a good bump photo!

Thank you so much to everyone who is using #ShowYouWereThere, I love seeing your photos popping up over on Instagram, they always make me smile so much.

Now my turn.

Last weekend we spent a lovely sunny morning at the beach and I took the camera along to get some family photos for the me and mine project.

While we were there I got Steve to take a few photos of me, and he got some like this one that I really like.  I tend to live in jeans and t shirts so it’s quite nice to have some photos of me actually wearing a skirt!

‘Show you were there’ round up

It’s Sunday morning, and that can only mean one thing.

Time for another round up from my little Instagram community #ShowYouWereThere.

My first pick is from Amy at The Smallest of Things.

I love that this photo captures a moment and a memory that means so much to Amy and her family.  And seeing this photo has reminded me that we have some lovely big kites that we should take out and let loose on the beach one day soon!

Next up is this fab summery shot from Amy at Very Much So.

It feels like another lovely moment captured, and I just really love how Amy’s dress seems to match the flowers so perfectly!

There’s a distinctly summery vibe in my third pick too, from Donna at What the Redhead Said.

I’ve never been to Hurst Castle but it sounds like such a lovely day out, and I love this father/daughter moment that Donna captured on their way there.

My last pick for this time is from Rachel at Mini and Mabel.

I just really love how the gorgeous, tall houses make Jude seem so small but he’s still so easy to spot in the scene in his yellow coat!

Now my turn.

I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness recently, and how so many times in the past I’ve held back a bit and been almost afraid to let myself feel truly happy.  I’m trying to be more aware of times when I might do this, and looking out for opportunities to just have fun and let more joy into my day.

Last week one of those opportunities came up as Nerys and I stopped off at the park on our way home from school one day.  For the first time in years I hopped on one of the swings and had a go, and it was silly and it was fun and it was great to just really relax and feel completely happy in that moment, swinging up high while my daughter played on the slide.

When did you last join in and play at the park?

#ShowYouWereThere round up

‘Show you were there’ round up

It is another gorgeous Sunday here in Swansea.

I’m writing this with all the windows wide open and the washing machine going with another load to hang on the line.  We might head out to the beach or the park later, or maybe just hang out in the garden.

For now though, it’s time for a little round up of my Instagram community #ShowYouWereThere.

My first pick this week is from Emma at Ready Freddie Go and it’s just a photo full of happiness.

The gorgeous smiles match the gorgeous wisteria perfectly!

Next up is a photo with a simple but powerful message, from Tasha at Winging this Mum life.

I realised while going through the feed for #ShowYouWereThere that for some reason I wasn’t following Tasha, but I changed that straight away after a quick browse through her feed.  Go check it out, it’s gorgeous!

It’s back to happy smiles and beautiful flowers for my next pick, from Nikki at Tinker and Totsy.

I really love this family photo and it always makes me happy reading about strangers doing nice things, even when it’s something relatively small like offering to take a photo for someone else.

It’s more wisteria for my fourth pick for this week, with Katy from Hot Pink Wellingtons.

Katy’s beautiful feed is full of spring colours at the moment and I just love it.  And now I really want to try and find somewhere near me with wisteria growing like this!

I normally pick just four photos each time for my round ups, but I just have to squeeze this extra one in this time.

This picture from Hannah at Hannah Tasker just really made me smile when I saw it.  And I love Hannah’s message in the caption about how important it is to look for and focus on all the positives in photos of ourselves.

Thank you so much to everyone who is using #ShowYouWereThere, I love seeing your photos popping up over on Instagram, they always bring a huge smile to my face!

Now, my turn.

Last weekend when we had the glorious weather for the bank holiday, we popped down to the beach a couple of times.

The second time we went we were fully prepared for the children to splash around in the sea.  And they had an absolute blast.  And even I got tempted in for a paddle and a bit of jumping and splashing around!

#ShowYouWereThere round up

‘Show you were there’ round up

It’s been a few weeks since I last did a #ShowYouWereThere round up, and I’m planning on changing my schedule a bit so that from now on the round ups will be once a fortnight instead of every week.

In case you’ve not heard about it before, #ShowYouWereThere is my Instagram community for sharing photos that feature YOU in some way, and I started it as a way of encouraging more parents to be in more photos.  In my round ups here on my blog I pick out four photos that have been shared over on Instagram that I’ve really loved.

Here are the four photos I’ve picked to share this time round.

First up is this lovely selfie from Nadine at Then I Became Mum.

I think this is a gorgeous photo and that she should most definitely get in more photos both with and for her family in the future!

My next pick for this round up is from Cath at Passports and Adventures.  It’s such a lovely photo of Cath and her son, and it sounds like they’ve had a really busy time together over in Ireland!

Next up is a picture from Kerry at Kerry Louise Norris that might just make you want to pack your bags and hop on a plane to visit some new and  beautiful places!

My final pick this time round is from Abbey at The Son and The Moon, and I challenge you not to smile when you see the grin on her son’s face, it’s so infectious!

Thank you so much to everyone who is using #ShowYouWereThere, I love seeing your photos popping up over on instagram, they always bring a huge smile to my face!

Now, my turn.

I have quite a few photos to choose from this time round, because in March I challenged myself to get in a photo every day.  So I have a whole month of photos that show me in one way or another.

The one I’ve chosen though is from last week when my sister and her girls came to Swansea to visit us for a day.

I’ve never really thought that we look that much alike, but looking at this photo and the way we’re smiling I wonder if we’re more similar than I think!

Can you tell we’re sisters in this photo?!

A month of photos 2018 (#ShowYouWereThere)

For the fourth year in a row now I spent the month of March getting in a photo every day.

It’s a challenge I set myself every year, in a way to celebrate Mother’s day, and to make sure that I exist in photos for my children.  It’s so easy for us mums to stay behind the camera, taking photos of everyone in the family but never getting in any pictures ourselves.

I started my little Instagram community #ShowYouWereThere as a way of encouraging more parents to get in more photos, and also as a way of reminding myself to do the same.  And once a year I go all out and push myself out of my comfort zone to take a photo every single day.

And here are the resulting photos from this year:

I mentioned at the start of this post that this is the fourth year that I’ve done this challenge.

Every other year I’ve found that it really has been a challenge.  I’ve always enjoyed it and really loved the photos that I ended up with, but I’ve also always found it, well, challenging in the past.

This year though, it felt a bit easier.

I think maybe I was more relaxed about the sorts of photos I was taken.  Or just more confident in my ability to get through the challenge.

I also think that using a remote trigger this time round really helped make the whole thing easier.  It meant that I wasn’t stretched out awkwardly trying to snap a selfie, or rushing into a shot taken with the timer and not knowing if I would end up in focus or not.

So, my main takeaway from this year is that a remote trigger is definitely worth having if you want to get in more photos and don’t always have someone around to take them for you!

If you fancy taking a look at how my children have changed over the last 4 years (and how my wardrobe really hasn’t!), check out my photos from 2015, 2016 and 2017.

And if I’ve inspired you to get front of the camera more, please do use #ShowYouWereThere on your photos when you share them on Instagram!

#ShowYouWereThere round up

‘Show you were there’ round up

Sunday is here again, and with it another round up from #ShowYouWereThere, my little Instagram community aimed at getting more parents in more photos, both with and for their children.

My first pick for this week is from the lovely Lucy at Mrs H’s favourite things.

Lucy always writes so openly and honestly, I’m always moved by her words.  We are so often our own worst enemies, saying things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to someone else.  We could all do with a good dose of love for ourselves I think.

My next pick for this week is from Wendy at Naptime Natter.

I’ve featured photos from Wendy several times in the past and, like Lucy, she writes such raw, honest posts that resonate with so many people.

I love this photo and the reminder along with it that sometimes getting out in nature can be just what we need, even if what we really feel like doing is curling up in bed and hiding from the world.

Next up is this fab photo from Lianne at Ankle Biters Adventures.

Lianne’s caption for this photo is just everything I feel with all my heart about how important it is for us as parents to put aside our own feelings about how we look in photos, and think about what our children will see when they look at them in the future.

My fourth and final pick for this week is from Donna at What the Redhead Said.

I just love the composition of this photo, and how gigantic the trees look while her husband and daughter look so small in the picture!

Thank you so much to everyone who is using #ShowYouWereThere, I love seeing your photos popping up over on instagram, they always bring a huge smile to my face!

Now, my turn.

I’m into week three of my project for March, where I’m trying to get in a photo every single day.  Last weekend we went to the park for a little walk/scoot/play before Rhys went to his swimming lesson, and I took the camera along to get a few photos of the children together for this month’s siblings project post.

While we were there I also made a point of handing the camera over so that I could be in a couple of photos too.

I think this one of me and Nerys together is one of my favourites!

#ShowYouWereThere round up

‘Show you were there’ round up

Is it just me or are the weeks starting to speed by a bit this year?

I blinked and it was the weekend again, and time for another round up from my little instagram community, #ShowYouWereThere.

My first pick for this week is this gorgeous collage of photos from Lyndsay at Fizzy Peaches.

I hope that Lyndsay’s return to work has gone as smoothly as possible; it can be such a huge adjustment after being on maternity leave.

My second choice for this week is from Jax at Jax and Joseph.  While this picture might not show her face, it does show a lot of who Jax is and what she’s up to!

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bf_5LTjhSNy/?tagged=showyouwerethere

Jax has started up a business baking biscuits which is so exiting, and they look absolutely amazing!

Next up is this bright and colourful photo from Fiona at Dolly Dowsie.  I love how Fiona’s coat matches the flowers so perfectly, and the words in her caption echo my feelings perfectly too – be brave and get in those pictures mamas!

My last pick for this week is from Ruth at Mummy and the Mexicans.  Visiting an aquarium like this is on my ‘would-love-to-do’ list, and this one in particular looks fab!

Thank you so much to everyone who is using #ShowYouWereThere, I love seeing your photos popping up over on instagram, they always bring a huge smile to my face!

Now, my turn.

I’m into my second week of taking a photo every day for a month and, as I find every year, it is a bit of a challenge.  But I love doing it because I end up with photos like this one, me and my girl laughing away together, playing with a kinder egg toy I think!
