It’s been a busy month for the children, with the summer holidays coming to an end and the new school year starting.
The last week of the holidays was lovely, with lots of family time as Steve took some time off work. We went swimming together at the LC, which was something that Nerys had been looking forward to all summer.
We also spent a fun few hours exploring Margam Park which is somewhere I’d never been before but definitely want to visit again at some point. The children’s play areas are brilliant and the park itself is huge with loads of places to walk and explore.

After the fun of the summer holidays, the last two weeks have been all about getting back into the swing of the school routine.
The children have both settled really well into their new classes and seem to be getting on well with their new teachers. They must be working hard during the day because they’re both pretty tired by the end of the school week.
We’ve also been walking home from school more so far this year which might also be a factor.
The way traffic is now though, with all the school children being back and there being no staggered pick up times, it doesn’t take us that much longer to walk home than it does to drive. And I’d rather walk and chat to the children about their day than sit in traffic with them.
The walking has also been good at getting the children ready for the 1K and 3K races that they took part in today.

They both did so well, running on their own and pushing themselves to keep going all the way.
The races didn’t take place last year thanks to the pandemic, so it was really lovely that they were able to do it this year. They’re always really proud of themselves when they do these runs, and are so happy to have special 40th anniversary medals to add to their collections.
