And I can’t stop thinking about it.
Because I don’t ever want him to stop being silly.
I grew up surrounded by silly. My parents are some of the silliest people I know, and the friends of theirs that were around when I was little were just the same. For years I struggled to remember how many days were in each month because every time I tried to recite the ’30 days hath September’ poem it morphed into this silly version that I learnt from one of their very good friends.
I would much prefer to leave behind a legacy of fun and laughter, and I think he would be happy that I remember him in that way.
Life can be so serious if we let it. The news is full of stories of pain and hardship and misery. It’s easy to believe that that’s just what life is. Especially as we get older, we’re led to believe that we need to put away childish things and get serious.
Well I say yah boo sucks to that!
How boring would life, and the world in fact, be if we did away with silliness?
So, Rhys, you be silly as much as you like, and I’ll do the same. Let’s sing nonsense songs, dance round the kitchen and do things back to front.
After all, life’s too long to be boring!

I agree entirely – let the silliness commence! & that version of the 30 days hath september poem is much better! Who needs to know how many days are in February anyway – February can’t even make its mind up! February, in fact, is being silly!
Haha, love your comment! February is indeed silly! x
Thank you so much for posting this. I needed a little reminder. I, too, come from silliness but being married to a man in the military the silliness occasionally gets left behind. Reading this has reminded me what I am, and that’s just plain silly 🙂 love the poem…brilliant. #twinklytuesday xx
Glad I’ve brought a bit of silliness back to you! x
I loved being a silly mummy. I have always taken a childish delight in the things around me, nd ive tried to pass this in to my kids. #TwinklyTuesday
Sounds like your kids are pretty lucky, I really hope they’ve inherited your silliness! x
Ahhh this is so true and really just made me think about all the times I’ve said don’t be silly. Because being silly is fun so I shouldn’t let him think otherwise. I have only ever said it like you did, in a kind of stop being like that mid tantrum! And afterwards he has said to me, I was being silly mummy wasn’t I. I’m going to try and do my best to change my terminology on this on 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
It’s so hard to get it right as a parent though isn’t it! x
