I don’t wear all that much make up.
My morning routine is pretty quick and simple; it’s basically just bb cream, concealer and powder to reduce shine. If I feel like I want to look a little more polished I might pop some mascara on, but that’s about it.
However simple my routine is though, Nerys still loves to watch me do it. And at the weekends when we have more time in the mornings, she likes to do her own make up in front of the mirror. She has a little set that Father Christmas gave her last year that she loves to play with.
She’ll cover her eyelids in bright blue and yellow eye-shadow and then put on her red lipstick. She’s getting pretty good at it to be fair, and I love watching her experimenting and having fun with it.

We went to her friend’s birthday party at the weekend and it was just girly, princess heaven for her.
She went wearing her Rapunzel dress and absolutely loved walking outside in it. She said she felt like the real Rapunzel when she had just escaped from her tower when we first got out of the car.
Then at the party itself we were all surprised with a special guest appearance from Elsa.
Nerys was a bit scared at first (she’s not keen on anyone dressed up in costume) but after a while she got braver and went and joined in. She had a glitter tattoo put on her arm, her nails painted in pretty glittery colours and lipstick and glitter put on her face.
She loved every second of her sparkly makeover, and was so excited when we got home and I told her that the stickers in her party bag were actually stick-on earrings. I think she’s used them all now, carefully picking out which pair she wanted to stick on next when the last ones fell off.
I wonder how long it’ll be now before she starts asking about actually getting her ears pierced.
Do you have a little one who loves experimenting with make up and dressing up with jewellery?

That sounds like a fab party! Especially if Elsa was there! I used to love putting some make up on at Xmas when I was a little girl. As it was a special occasion, my mum would paint my nails and put a little bit of eyeshadow on my eyes haha #livingarrows
That’s such a lovely memory from your childhood Christmases! x
Ha sounds like my Molly! Nerys friend in school! She has a make up set since last Christmas and absolutely loves getting it out! Cath x
Haha, they all loved their makeovers at the party too didn’t they! x
Oh it just sounds like the best party! Glad to hear she enjoyed meeting Elsa in the end – Toby’s not a fan of people in costumes either 🙂 #LivingArrows
She really loved seeing Elsa in the end, and I’m so pleased she was brave enough to join in. x
Alice is exactly the same with people in costumes and freaks out. She now does ask me if that is just someone inside them, but still won’t go near them. It sounds like a great party
It’s funny, children either seem to love people in costumes like that or be really scared of them, there doesn’t seem to be a middle ground with it! I can understand the fear to be honest, there is something a bit freaky about people in huge costumes, and don’t get me started on mimes, they still unnerve me now! x
How cute, it sounds like she a wonderful time at the Princess party. Those characters can be a bit daunting sometimes can’t they. I bet she will be wanting mummy’s make up next. #livingarrows
She had such a lovely time at the party, and warmed to Elsa relatively quickly! She is already pestering me to use my make up, every now and then I let her and she loves it! x
Oh wow what a great party! It sounds like she had a great time, I would really like a sparkly make over myself xx #Livingarrows
It was such a lovely party, she had such a good time! A few of us mums were tempted to ask for a bit of glitter too! x
Oh I love this photo so much. She looks like she’s concentrating so much and I remember doing the exact same thing as a child x
She really does take care when she does it now, she loves it! x
