Every parent wants their children to do their best at school and fulfill their academic potential.
But, helping your child achieve to the best of their ability is about so much more than encouraging them to get the highest grades.

Supporting your child’s learning at home is crucial and something you may be interested in finding more about to help your child thrive.
You likely already support your child’s education in many ways by allowing them to make healthy lifestyle choices and keeping them in a good routine so they are ready to learn once they arrive at school.
However, it is possible to go beyond this to enrich your child’s education and add value to the activities they already take part in at school.
Enriching your child’s learning outside the classroom is not about pushing them and pressurising them to be the best at everything.
Instead, enrichment is all about helping them to further their understanding of the world around them through activities, trying new things, and different experiences.
These types of activities are something the whole family can get involved in, which makes it a perfect opportunity to bond and spend quality time together.
Reading
Reading with your child is considered one of the most critical activities you can do with them.
Developing a love of books and discovering new information through reading is something that will stay with your child throughout their life.
When your child is able to access a wide range of reading materials, it helps them develop a rich vocabulary and increase their understanding of the world.
Providing plenty of opportunities for your child to read both with you and independently is essential and an ideal way to enrich their education.

Try new activities
Helping your child to discover many new experiences both with you and the rest of the family is a great way to boost their confidence.
But, as well as trying new experiences with the rest of the family, it is also helpful for them to build their confidence through activities independent of the family, such as residential school trips.
Trying new activities is an excellent way for children to develop their resilience, which is a key skill they will need throughout their life.
Facing challenges and using their problem-solving skills to master new things and try new experiences will give kids the confidence to continue pushing themselves throughout life.

Explore nature
Heading outside to spend time in nature is an excellent way to enrich your child’s education. Being outside in nature has many benefits on a child’s mental and physical wellbeing.
When your child is outside, they will be learning in ways that are not possible to replicate in the classroom. Whether you attend a forest school, simply head out on nature walks, or garden together in your backyard, each of these activities is enriching for your child.
Spending time outside with your child will develop their problem-solving skills, develop a strong understanding of nature, and build their physical skills.
