How to Bring More of Your Geeky Side Into Your Everyday Wardrobe

Most of us have at least one thing we’re properly geeky about, even if we don’t always admit it straight away.

Maybe you love gaming, know way too much about a certain TV series, could happily talk about books for hours, or get genuinely excited about science, fantasy, or retro tech.

So why keep all that to yourself?

The things we’re into are a big part of who we are, and it’s much more fun to just lean into them. And one of the best ways to do that is through what you wear.

A geeky T shirt, a brilliant print, or a dress covered in little references to something you love can make an everyday outfit feel a lot more fun, and might even help you find your people while you’re at it.

Start with a T shirt

If you want to ease yourself into a geekier wardrobe, a geek t shirt is probably the easiest place to start.

You can wear one with jeans, shorts, leggings, or tucked into a skirt, so you don’t really need to rethink your whole outfit. You’re just swapping a plain T shirt for one that actually says something about you.

GeeksOutfit has loads of designs around gaming, science, books, films, and all sorts of other wonderfully nerdy interests.

I really like the Great Women of Science Geek T Shirt, especially if science is your thing, and the Board Game Geek T Shirt is a fun one for anyone who takes game night very seriously.

A nerd shirt like one of these is such an easy way to wear something that feels a bit more you without going full statement outfit.

Go bigger with the prints

Once you’ve got a few geeky T shirts in rotation, you can start having a bit more fun with bigger prints.

This is where the button up shirts come in.

The Retro Game Button Up Pocket Shirt is a great example because the whole design is based around old school gaming, so it feels playful straight away without needing anything else going on.

A nerdy hawaiian shirt like this would be brilliant in the summer, on holiday, at a barbecue, or just on a day when you fancy wearing something a little louder than usual.

And honestly, I think that’s part of the fun. Not every outfit needs to be subtle, right?!

Give geeky dresses a go

You definitely don’t have to stick to T shirts and button ups either.

GeeksOutfit has a whole range of geek dresses, and some of the prints are properly fun.

The DND Plants and Polyhedral Dice Geek Tiered Cami Maxi Dress is a good one if you’re into Dungeons and Dragons, and I love that it has pockets too, because that always feels like a win.

There’s also the Ultimate Answer To The Universe Art Pattern dress, which is ideal if you like your geeky references a little more subtle and enjoy the idea of someone spotting it and instantly knowing.

These kind of nerdy dresses are great when you want your whole outfit to do the talking.

Just wear what you love

The best part about all of this is that there really aren’t any rules.

You don’t need to dress head to toe in fandom clothing, and you definitely don’t need to save the geekier stuff for conventions or special occasions.

Wear the T shirt on the school run. Put on the gaming shirt for lunch with friends. Wear the dress because you love the print and it makes you smile.

Clothes should be fun, and wearing the things that show off what you’re actually into is a pretty good place to start.
