How to help your child feel heard

I recently wrote a post about getting our children to listen to us, without ending up shouting or nagging. The main takeaway from it was to look at the way we're communicating with our children, rather than focusing on the fact that they 'never listen' ...

If your children are anything like mine they'll come home from school covered in all sorts of dirt and who knows what else. I try to send them off to school looking pretty presentable, with clean uniforms and nicely brushed hair. But by the en ...

After what seemed like quite a long week for everyone last week, the children and I had a quiet day in on Saturday. Steve went off to do the last stretch of the Gower walk that he does with his friend every year, and we stayed at home for a day of pain ...

How to get your child to listen to you

03/10/2018
by This glorious life with 4 Comments Family lifeParentingPsychology

I have a feeling that every parent at some point has felt that all they do is nag or shout at their children before they seem to listen and do what they're being asked to do.  The thing is, so often the answer to the problem involves looking at our own ac ...

I don't wear all that much make up. My morning routine is pretty quick and simple; it's basically just bb cream, concealer and powder to reduce shine.  If I feel like I want to look a little more polished I might pop some mascara on, but that's about i ...

You can use these nifty little devices to track so many different things and they're brilliantly lightweight and the perfect size to pop in a bag or pocket.

If you want to know a bit more about it then you can read my full review over on the blog!

We were recently sent some amazing toys from @bandaiuk for the children, including these dress designing kits.

Nerys and I have had so much fun with these, using the different pieces of fabric and accessories to design lots of outfits.

The only question is, how can we go about getting some of them made into actual lifesize dresses?!
This is a question I'm trying to ask myself more o This is a question I'm trying to ask myself more often - what will I do this week to bring a little bit more joy into my life?

So I'm putting the same question out there to you!

If you've got a bad case of the Mondays (complete with chainsaw bear!) then take a few minutes to think about what little things you can do this week to make things a bit more fun and enjoyable.

For me this week it'll be having a mooch in Flying Tiger when I'm in town for a meeting, getting out in the sunshine for the school run, and maybe giving 'how I met your father' a go one evening once the kids are in bed!
Little snippets of our day. I try and do a 10 on Little snippets of our day.

I try and do a 10 on 10 project each month, where I take 10 photos throughout the day on the 10th of each month.

This month I also tried to remember to take little video clips through the day, and this is the result.
I had a pretty rough start to this year (fairly su I had a pretty rough start to this year (fairly sure I'm not the only one to say that).

I'm coming out the other side if it now, but with a renewed sense of just wanting to be happy.

Not necessarily in a big, all-encompassing way. Just in lots of little ways. Noticing the things in life that bring me joy and making time to just have fun and to do things that make me feel happiness in all its different forms.

Who's with me?!
I'm really looking forward to some family time ove I'm really looking forward to some family time over the Easter holidays (and keeping my fingers crossed for some nice sunny days to head out for some walks!)

Have your children already finished for the term or have they got a few more days left like my two?
