Autumn family photography bucket list

Autumn photography bucket list – 10 little moments to photograph this fall

In need of some inspiration for little moments to photograph with your family this autumn?

I’m talking about photographs that capture the magic of autumn, the little details that just feel like fall, and the things you only really experience with your children at this time of year.

This list of 10 ideas will hopefully give you some great ideas and leave you inspired to grab your camera and start snapping some amazing photos that you’ll love to look back on when your children are older.

1. Little hands holding conkers

Either a whole pile that you’ve collected on a walk, or the biggest, shiniest one your child could find along the way. You can also do this with pine cones or acorns if there aren’t any conkers to be found!

2. Sparklers and hotdogs on Bonfire Night

If hotdogs aren’t your thing, then think about any other traditions you have around Bonfire Night and photograph them.  It could be a chilly walk to your local firework display or toffee apples in the back garden.

3. Welly boots and umbrellas

Get down low and photograph little feet in wellies as they stomp around on autumn walks.  And snap some photos of your children holding their own umbrellas in the rain too.

It might not seem like the obvious thing to photograph, but one day you’ll look back with a smile at photos of Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol umbrellas held in little hands.

4. Watching the fireworks

Take a few seconds to look away from the display and take some photos of your children’s faces as they watch the fireworks.

5. Harvest festival

Take some photos of your child heading into school with their contribution to the harvest festival collection.

6. Colourful autumn leaves

Take photos of the leaves on the trees, your children’s feet surrounded by colourful leaves on the ground, or them holding up the prettiest leaf they can find.

7. Visiting the pumpkin patch

If you take your family to a pumpkin patch then take some pictures while you’re there of them taking their time to pick out the one they want.

Carving pumpkins is also a great activity to photograph at this time of year.

8. Halloween costumes

Get in close and photograph some of the details of your child’s Halloween costume, along with pictures of them holding the treats they’re giving out and collecting from trick or treating.

9. Making autumn crafts

On those rainy autumn days when you’re at home having fun with autumn or halloween themed crafts remember to grab your camera and take a few photos.

10. Cosy moments at home and outside

When you’re out and about, wrapped up warm against the cold, take some photos of the children’s gloved hands and faces with scarves wrapped up high.

And on cosy days at home snap some shots of them cwtched up on the sofa with blankets and hot chocolates.
