Continue reading for some advice from this sixth form in West Sussex, on some top tips for helping your child with their homework.
An encouraging environment
It is a common occurrence amongst parents to notice that their child studies exceptionally well at school, and only plays up when they are at home.
The majority of the time, the reason for this is because the school setting is designed to be stimulating and motivating.
Create an area for your child that is dedicated to their studies. Try and keep it free from distractions such as noise or technology.
If studying alone is something they don’t like, try and set up study dates with their friends, so they can support each other and complete their work together.
Guidance
Whilst giving your child the answers to their homework queries may be quick and hassle free, it is important to guide them instead, as they need to learn how to figure the answers out themselves.
Of course, if they’re really struggling, help them out a little more, but for the most part, allow them to work it out independently, with you there as support.
Supporting your child with their homework is a rewarding journey, and something that can be completed as a bonding activity too. Be patient, understanding, and help create a great study routine to complete their homework in after school!
