The United Arab Emirates is a Muslim country that follows the Sha’aria law, therefore as a visitor in Dubai you must abide to these laws. Under the Sha’aria law all tourists and residents of Dubai are required to dress modestly and cover up, even in the middle of summer.

As a tourist you must be respectful, even when enjoying the sun or going for a swim. Swimwear laws in Dubai state that you must cover-up, therefore buying appropriate swimwear such as the products available at Pez Laon is extremely important.

As a tourist you should always respect the country that you are visiting and traditions that is has, but this is extremely important during Ramadan in Dubai.

If you decide to visit Dubai during Ramadan, you must show respect at all times. As a tourist in Dubai during Ramadan, there are a number of things that you should be aware of.

For example, you will not be able to eat, drink or smoke in public in front of anyone between sunrise and sunset.

The residents of Dubai are extremely private people and like to keep themselves to themselves, and as a tourist you must respect their privacy.

Therefore, when taking photographs, even if it is of a scenic view, you must double check if there isn’t anyone within the shot.

If there is someone within your photograph you must politely ask them to move or ask if it is okay for you to take the picture with them in it?

Tipping in restaurants and bars

Although tipping in a bar or restaurant in Dubai is not really expected, it is a common practice that you should keep in mind while you are there. Most restaurants and bars across Dubai will actually add a tip to your bill and will not expect you to pay extra.

But if you notice that the restaurant or bar have not added a tip to the end of your bill, out of respect you should leave a tip for their service.
