I remember my mum saying to me that, when we were little, she would always have her camera handy.
She captured some really lovely moments of our childhoods because her camera was often nearby, ready to be grabbed when one of those moments happened.
I had one of those moments the other day. Nerys was sitting up on our lounge windowsill, and the light was just perfect.
And my camera was handy. I was able to grab it quickly, before she moved on to play with something else, somewhere else.

These little moments.
Those little details of childhood. The top she had for her 3rd birthday that, even though it’s sized 4-5 years, is almost on the small side already. The blocks that still get played with a couple of years after they were given to her.
And the light.
The perfect light that so often floods onto that huge windowsill. One day we’ll move from this house. And I’ll take with me such fond memories of my children playing on that windowsill.

Anyway, the moral of this story?
Listen to your mother, she knows what she’s talking about!
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.”

Thank goodness for camera phones!! I think I had more pictures of my kids within a month of them being born than my parents had during my entire childhood!!!
Haha, that is very true, camera phones make it much easier to capture every moment! x
Lovely photos, I have my camera to hand exactly for these often fleeting moments too x
Thank you, you have to be really quick with some of these moments don’t you! x
Definitely gorgeous light. I love how Nerys’ hair looks so ethereal with it behind #livingarrows
What lovely photos, she looks so sweet and innocent.
I went on a beginners photography course for parents last year and that was the number one tip – always have your camera handy as you never know when the perfect moment will appear! Those are gorgeous, the light is wonderful and her expression is just lovely! #LivingArrows
You’re right – that light is beautiful. And in years to come you will still remember those blocks and that top! x
So so gorgeous. You are so right the light is perfect and so is her soft expression. My camera and phone are always handy too so I can never miss a moment although sometimes it doesn’t matter how quickly I grab the camera that perfect moment is already gone. That’s ok though. It’s life 🙂 x #livingarrows
Thanks for this. I love looking back at the photos I took of you three when you were little. There’s one on the bookshelf right now of you and Imogen on the edge of the field, arms and legs crossed and big grins on your faces. ….lovely!
Ha ha I love the moral of the story! I must admit since becoming a blogger I find that my camera is actually less around than it was before, which means I’m missing my out on shots like these. This is lovely and it’s beautiful light xx #LivingArrows
My camera is generally always within arms reach and that first photo is just gorgeous #livingarrows
Such beautiful natural photos! I love that we are in a time where its so easy to capture such memories 🙂 #livingarrows
Thank you! I know, it feels so funny to think about going back to using film and having to be so much more picky with the photos we take, rather than snapping away all the time! x
These are such lovely photos – I always try and have my camera handy too but even then the moment has sometimes passed before I get to it! I don’t know if I would take so many photos if it wasn’t for blogging though, so I’m glad it encourages me to capture so many memories. #LivingArrows
