8 years ago today, I put on a pretty cream dress, cream pointy-toed heels and a simple pearl necklace and headed off to get married. It was a tiny wedding by anyone’s standards, just us and 10 guests. We were married at county hall in Swansea, sipped champagne on the beach afterwards then wandered to a local Italian restaurant for dinner.
It was perfect. Just what we wanted.
And so, to celebrate I wanted to share this quote with you. It’s possibly my all-time favourite quote about love. I remember coming across it when I was first falling in love with my husband, and it just resonated with me. I was terrified of falling in love. Of letting myself be so vulnerable.
But oh, it was so worth the risk!

This is lovely 😊 and a reminder to take a chance… because of the what ifs. Congratulations on being married 8 years! X
Thank you! I love the quote “I’d rather a life of ‘oh wells’ than a life of ‘what ifs’! x
Your wedding sounds wonderful! That’s what I want. No holding back on the love here, but the risk would be jumping in and doing the wedding I want.
Go for it! It’s your wedding, it should be what you want! x
‘What if’s’ can really hold us back in life, It’s such a negative thought.
‘What ifs’ can really open up your world to possibilities. It’s such a positive spin on what can be a negative thought!
I love it when there are two sides to something. Things are just never black and white.
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary and well done you for taking the plunge.
“No relationship is all sunshine, but two people can share one umbrella and survive the storm together”
Thank you! That’s a great quote, and very true about relationships. And you’re right, there are definitely 2 sides to these things! x
Happy Anniversary Madeline! I love that quote too! You can insert any doubt in there & it’s just as good! x
Thanks Becky! x
