Father’s day is coming up on the 19th June so it’s time to start looking for that traditional Father’s day card and thinking of gift ideas. Online card company Boomf are a great place to start, especially if you’re lucky enough to have both your own dad and your children’s dad to buy for.
To help make Father’s day really special this year, here are 5 ways to celebrate Father’s day in 2022.

1. Find the perfect card
It all starts with the perfect card doesn’t it? Get that right and you’re off to a great start!
So have a think about the type of card your dad would appreciate. Does he prefer traditional Father’s day cards or is he a fan of silly, pun-filled cards?
If you’re really not sure what to go for, then a photo card that you personalise with your own family pictures could be a great option.
2. Start a tradition
If you have young children then now is a great time to start a Father’s day tradition for them and their dad.
Every year since my son was born I’ve taken a photo of him (and now his sister too) in the same chair in our house and used it to make a photo card for my husband.
It’s a tradition that we all really love and it’s amazing to look back on them and see how much the children have changed over the years.

3. Make something meaningful
Spend some time researching your family tree on your Dad’s side, and put it together for him as a gift on Father’s day.
He’ll love that you’ve put so much time and thought into something for him, and you’ll both learn more about your family and your past.
And if you want to help your children do something thoughtful for their dad then get them to help you cook up his favourite treat or meal.
4. Find the perfect gift
Unless your dad happens to be a big fan of ties and cufflinks you might need to get a bit more imaginative when it comes to buying him the perfect gift.
If you want something to fit with a traditional Father’s day card, then something like a book by his favourite author would work well.
Other ideas could be a greatest hits CD from a band he loves or a box of his favourite chocolates.

5. Spend time together
While the cards and gifts are always really appreciated, the best way you can celebrate Father’s day is by spending time together.
So make a plan to visit your dad and spend some time with him. If you live too far away to be together in person then a video chat is still a great way to ‘see’ each other.
And for your children, plan an activity that their dad enjoys that you can all join in with as a family.
Whether your dad is the type who enjoys traditional Father’s day cards and would love a new flask for hot drinks at his allotment, or the type who prefers silly cards and novelty gifts, you can make this Father’s day special by making it all about the wonderful dad that he is.

Hope this doesn’t spoil the surprise for Steve and Rob!
Hopefully not! x
