If you’ve been finding yourself feeling nostalgic for the early 2000s lately then you’re not alone. The Y2K spirit seems to be alive and well, and if you’re ready to embrace the nostalgia and inject a bit of millennium magic into your life, from blasting Britney Spears on your playlist to binge-watching Buffy, and even picking up some retro-inspired finds from Cherry Kitten, keep reading for 5 ways to really get into the Y2K spirit.
Power up a playlist
Pull out your old CDs or spend some time putting together the ultimate 2000s playlist on Spotify and dance your way back down memory lane.
You can stick to a genre if you like, but for me it’s far more fun to mix things up with a playlist that merrily hops from Stan and The Next Episode to Can’t Fight The Moonlight and What a Girl Wants.
Dress the part
90s and early 2000s style is back in at the moment, and I am loving seeing that baggy jeans finally back in the shops. If you really want to dive back in then Cherry Kitten is the perfect Y2K shop packed with fun, tongue-in-cheek clothes that’ll help you dress the part.
My personal pick is the ‘A little bit dramatic’ top from their extensive range of baby tees that is just Y2K to, well, a tee. But there are loads of different styles and slogans to choose so there really is something for everyone.

Binge watch a series from the 2000s
Get stuck into some serious nostalgia by binge watching the programmes you couldn’t get enough of back in the early 2000s.
Whether you were a Buffy fan or if Dawson’s Creek and Friends were more your thing there’s a good chance you can find your favourite series on one of the streaming channels. So grab some snacks and get stuck in, without having to wait a week between episodes!
Have fun with Y2K tech
I’m not saying you should switch your smartphone for a Nokia 3310 (although it would be fun for a few hours just to play a few games of Snake!), but there’s a lot to be said for some of the simpler tech of the early 2000s.
Try hunting down a Tamagotchi and seeing how long you can keep it alive, dusting off your old Game Boy and seeing how much of your favourite game you still remember, or finding a Polaroid camera to take some fun photos of your friends with.

Recreate old looks
Step back into the early 2000s beauty scene and give yourself a makeover to go with your Y2K shirts. This era was all about making statements—from glittery eyeshadows that caught the light to the juiciest lip glosses on the block.
Head to YouTube and find some beauty tutorials to recreate those unforgettable Y2K makeup looks with glittery eyeshadows, frosted lip shades, and dramatic eyeliner. And don’t forget to dig out your butterfly clips and play around with zigzag partings!
