While the summer holidays are a big part of the year for parents to start planning ahead for, there are other times in the year where children will need to be entertained.
It’s therefore important to give your child as many opportunities as they can to grow while they’re not in school.
Here are 5 ideas for staycations in the UK with your kids!
1. Pick out a holiday home near the beach
Heading to some of the UK’s most idyllic beach towns and seaside resorts can save a lot of money and time. Renting a holiday home will really help you all appreciate the goodness of trips in your own country.
2. Have a spa day
Not every day of the year is sunny, especially in the UK, so it’s wise to plan ahead and have some rainy day activities planned.
If you are staying at home then why not plan a spa day? You can put together all the things you need from home, with sheet masks and cucumber slices.
3. Go camping
Camping is fun and teaches children about the many ways they can be responsible in just a few simple steps.
Help your child set up the tent, give them little tasks to keep them occupied and be sure to pack some marshmallows to melt over the fire.

4. Make an indoor picnic
Picnics don’t always have to be outside, and they can still be as fun inside the home.
Pick out a film to watch and lay out the picnic blanket with a range of different treats and nibbles. Get your kids involved in the process to help with their development.
5. Go stargazing
There are a lot of dark sky zones where you can take you and your children to see the many stars in our galaxy.
Point out the different constellations there are and see which ones your child can pick out, and talk all about the solar system and space.
