3 reasons I’m loving the 90s revival

I think we’ve all noticed that the 90s are having a bit of a revival lately, and I have to admit that I’m here for it. I mean, I don’t want to live my life in the past but there are a few things that I am really enjoying being back in fashion and the fact that the music and TV that I loved during my teenage years are easily available for me (and my children) to enjoy.

If you’ve not been all that convinced that this revival is a good thing, have a read of these 3 reasons why I’m personally loving it:

1. The fashion

While there are some particular looks that should probably stay in the past, I am so happy that wide leg jeans and baggy tops are back in style. I was never really convinced that skinny jeans looked all that good on me and, honestly, I’ve pretty much always picked out clothes that are comfy above anything else.

If you want to embrace the 90s comfy style then Bold Oversize have some great oversized shirts to choose from. You can bring the look bang up to date by picking out a top with a relevant-to-today design, like the ‘Go Taylor’s Boyfriend’ one, or go for something a bit more vintage-looking.

I love how inclusive this whole look is, with womens oversized t shirts that look great on all sizes, but if you’re particularly looking for a plus size oversized t shirt then you need to check out this range that goes up to 7XL.

2. The music

I know every generation thinks their music was the best, but there really was something special about the soundtrack to the 90s. So I really love the fact that all I need to do these days is head to Spotify and I can stream ready-made 90s playlists packed with my favourite tracks.

I’m also really enjoying the fact that my children seem to know some of the more random songs from that decade, most likely thanks to people using them in YouTube videos. I mean, they were singing along to Lemon Tree from Fool’s Garden the other day!

3. The TV programmes

Those of you who were also teenagers in the 90s will remember what it was like to watch shows like Friends the first time round. The wait between episodes was bad enough but the wait between seasons was a killer when there were cliffhangers that made you desperate to find out what was going to happen next.

Being able to stream all the seasons now is still a bit of a dream come true for my inner teenager, and I’ve already introduced my kids to classics like Boy Meets World which I loved growing up. Now I just have to wait a bit longer until they’re ready to watch Buffy with me!

The 90s revival is more than just a trip down memory lane though; it’s a bit of a celebration of comfort, nostalgia, and a shared experience across generations. Embracing the laid-back fashion with oversized t shirts and baggy jeans, re-discovering 90s Brit Pop, and re-living the stories of our favourite TV shows isn’t just about us reliving the past, but it also lets us share a bit of it with our children. And I, for one, am here for that.
